I persume your a creationist? I'm curious why do you persue such a line of thinking? I think it's good that you poke holes in scientific theory because it means that science unlike religion will never become complacent, self confident and lapse into faith rather than enquiry but why do think Creationism is so essential to Christianity? Why do think it strengthens your position?

I mean it is a fact that the prophets all through the bible including Jesus himself all spoke in allegory all indicators point towards genesis the story of creation as being just another allegory. If you do not accept this then do you believe that revelation is actual revealed truth again or just representative? Do you believe a dragon is coming to sweep the stars from the sky, even though we now know because people have landed on them that the stars are planets like ours?

If one is a story and the other truth what is the category that your use, the frame of reference, for differenciating between the various stories in the gospels?

The idea of evolution, that the environment shapes all it's occupants and those occupants adapt and change minutely and then gradually greatly to survive is not contray to the existence of God because while it explains what and how it doesnt explain why.

As to the religious importance of genesis it expalins the existance of death and that God was seperate from his people because he had never experienced life and death, something that he sought to remedy by being born a human as Jesus Christ (if you believe that) so that he could understand the nature of the punishment that he had made on mankind (EG really harsh) by demonstrate that people dont need to live in fear and misery. Well that's my take.

Besides how could there be days when time, day and night, wherent created until the third or fourth day? Why is God referred to in the common pagan pluralist fashion as "We"? Why is God afraid of mankinds enlightenment rather than just sorry for them? The story of creation also suggests the world is flat and the centre of the universe are you convinced of these things too?
