Could we have some proof please?

I can't help but doubt the veracity of this story. Are you sure this is even true? Where did you here this? My understanding of native american cultures is that they are built on a rockbead of empathy with the environment - particularly other living things. Are you suggesting that we've all been duped in this regard for all these years? Are there some other simular claims about native americans tribes? I'd like some confirmation of such stories. Are we missing some context here? (not that I can readily imagine what kind of context would make such practices acceptable).
