: We have all been bombarded with Y2K hype, but is January 1, 2000 really the beginning of a new millenium? It is according to the Christian calendar,

DDN: Its not the beginning of a new millenium even according to the Christian calendar, MDG. A millenium is 1000 years. 2 of these 1000 year periods will not have been completed until Dec 31, 2000 - the last day of year number 2000. The advertising of this New Years as being the beginning of a new millenium is the biggest media blunder in the history of mankind. I can't wait to see the confusion that errupts as we approach the end of next year (2000) and we get rebombarded with 'end of the millenium' advertising. That ought to be simply hilarious.
It just goes to show you how incredibly stupid the media is and how incredibly gullible we all are.
