1 that you do not -- whatever the reason for not, for
instance, finding in the middle of the last week that you
2 did not have Professor Wheelock. I am surprised it must
have been only last night you discovered you have not.
3 But what I am anxious to do is move forward.

     4 MR. MORRIS: Yes.

5 MR. JUSTICE BELL: The point has been made that, for whatever
reason, it seems to me -- certainly I am not going to
6 attribute any fault to Mrs. Brinley-Codd, I am not
concerned at the moment in criticising you either. What
7 I want to do is make absolutely certain that you have got
a copy or copy at your homes and one in court. It may be
8 that if you start marking up a particular one in court you
will choose to take the volume home one night and bring it
9 in again in the morning. But that is matter for you to
organise in the way you feel suits you best. Do you know
10 what volumes are in court but which do you not have at
              home at the moment?
    11
MS. STEEL: No, I honestly did not realise there were huge
12 files -- that means there is also only one copy between
              the two of us.
    13
MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have a suggestion to make, it is this,
14 because we are breaking off rather early tomorrow, that is
before the court will be locked up. I would like you,
15 when you go home tonight, to make a note of all the
volumes you have at home, each of you, and when we adjourn
16 at about quarter to 3 tomorrow afternoon, you will be able
to stay in court until 4 o'clock or so. You can check
17 that against what you have in court, so you make sure that
you have a full hand, as it were, in both places. If you
18 think you have some documents at home which you have not
here or it seems to me more likely some documents here
19 that you do not have at home, quite apart from separate
ring binders within the ring binders, make a note tomorrow
20 afternoon and check them at home.

21 MS. STEEL: We will do our best. We have drawn this to your
attention before. We have severe difficulties with, you
22 know, just the amount of work that is involved.

23 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let us get it straight now because the very
worst scenario is that you go away before the long break
24 to your homes, this court is locked up for the whole of
August with bundles in here, and you get home, you start
    25        working on something and say:  "I have left it in court;
that is the only copy I have". Do you understand?
    26
MS. STEEL: Yes. I think we can do it for files, but we may
27 also have a problem with documents within the files.

28 MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do it with files and do your best on
              documents within the files.
    29
MR. MORRIS: Can we appeal for a systematic approach from the
30 plaintiffs with regard to service of documents, to make
sure all the documents which need to be in the witness
