Day 093 - 28 Feb 95 - Page 02

                                     Tuesday, 28th February 1995.
MS. STEEL: I wanted to hand some documents that I only got
       last night.
  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.
MS. STEEL: If possible, if the witness could have a chance to
read it before we start -- if possible, if the witness
could have a chance to read one, in particular, before we
       start the cross-examination again.
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Which is the one you want Dr. Gomez
       Gonzalez to read first?
MS. STEEL: The scientific paper; the other one I will not be
       asking about just yet.
MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I suggest is, I will not read them
myself yet because if you refer to parts of them I will
read them, those parts, but I will go away until quarter to
       11.
MS. STEEL: There is also another which, unfortunately, I have
       not enough copies of.
MR. JUSTICE BELL: How many copies have you?
MS. STEEL: I have one that I have marked and then another one
-- it is a fairly short article.
MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you give that to Mr. Riley -- would you
mind making half a dozen copies of it?
MR. MORRIS: Can I say for the record we have handed in the
       proposed pleadings amendments?
MR. JUSTICE BELL: I will read such parts of these documents as
and when they are put to the witnesses, but I will take
away your proposed amendment. I will read that and I will
come back at a quarter to 11.
                      (Short Adjournment)
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Why is it that these just come this morning?
We had a whole week off for preparation last week.
  MS. STEEL: Yes.
MR. JUSTICE BELL: By "off" I mean out of court.
MS. STEEL: It was because of what Dr. Gomez Gonzalez was saying
yesterday and Mr. Rampton actually said that he wanted to
see a copy of the report that I mentioned. I rang up about
that report and it could not be found, so a different one
was sent but on the same subject.
MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. We have to have a situation where all
the documents are available before a witness comes into the
box in the first place. I am seriously considering not
