     1   MR. MORRIS:  Just very briefly, I was asked really to check out
     2        with the USDA what the actual directives for inspectors
     3        were.  I got the fax last night from the director's office
     4        of the Poultry Food Safety and Inspection Service which has
     5        the directive in it which I have given to the witness and
     6        to the Plaintiffs.  It does speak for itself.  I could
     7        probably deal with it in about three or four minutes, if I
     8        just ask the witness a couple of questions.

    10   MR. JUSTICE BELL:  Have you had time to read it through?

    12   THE WITNESS:  No, I have not.  It was just handed to me about a
    13        minute ago.

    18        A.  I have not seen it so I cannot tell you.

    37        statement?  It should be at tab 4.

    MS. STEEL:  At the bottom of that statement at the bottom of
    42        first page of that statement -- sorry, it says in that
    43        statement:  "It is not a part of McDonald's product
    44        specifications that cattle used to supply beef" -----

    48   MS. STEEL:  In the second paragraph, the second sentence:  "It
    49        is not a part of McDonald's product specifications that
    50        cattle used to supply beef to us be free from growth 
    51        promoters or antibiotics.  In the USA both growth promoters 
    52        and antibiotics are given to cattle".  That is correct, is 
    53        it?
    54        A.  It is correct.  I am having difficulty in finding that
    55        statement, but it is a correct statement.
