  Q. Did you become their company Services Manager after being
       Group Safety and Hygiene Adviser?
       A. Yes, that was much later on.

  Q. How long did you work for them?
       A. 23 years.

  Q. In the course of that occupation, that appointment,
23 years, did you have contact with, for example, the
Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries?
       A. I did, more or less constant contacts with the
       Ministry.

  Q. And with Local Authorities?
       A. Local authorities also, yes.

  Q. Have you had a knowledge of the regulations which govern
the food safety of food products?
       A. I have.

  Q. Have you spent time in abattoirs?
       A. Yes, a considerable amount of time, I might say.

  Q. In all your 40 years?
       A. Yes.

  Q. And in different parts of the country?
       A. Yes, indeed.

  Q. Have you served on any examining bodies?
       A. Yes, I was an examiner for the Royal Society of Health
Meat and Food Inspectors Certificate and also for the Royal
Society of Health Catering Food Hygiene Certificate.

  Q. Have you been a member of committees?
       A. Yes. Mainly the technical committee of a major trade
association in the meat industry. That is the Association
of British Abattoir Owners, but also a joint working party
consisting of trade associations and the Health & Safety
       Executive.

  Q. Have you written papers and articles concerned with your
       particular field of expertise?
       A. I have.

  Q. In 1990, I think, you finally moved out of industry, out of
employment, and formed your own consultancy?
       A. I did.

  Q. Is the time coming when maybe you will give that up and
       attend to your roses?
       A. Inevitably, as the years roll by, that is true as well.

  Q. Roughly speaking -- I am not going to ask about the status
of your business at all -- how many clients do you have
       concerned with the food industry?
       A. It changes as time goes on, but if I was to say 12 at
any given moment, and those would include two very large
organisations which themselves have, perhaps, 30 locations
scattered throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.
