Day 141 - 23 Jun 95 - Page 04

  MR. RAMPTON: Very well.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I think you should do, if I may suggest,
I suggest you put bits of the transcript -- in fact,
Mr. Riley, can you go down and ask Mr. Styles if he will
bring up my transcripts for the week so far as quickly as
possible, please; that is the whole of Mr. Stein's
       evidence.

What I suggest is that you actually put the parts of the
transcript which you wish to to Mr. Stein, and he can have
a copy in front of him.

  MS. STEEL: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If Mr. Rampton wants to put further parts,
I am not going to jump to any conclusions here and now
about this matter, and I will wait patiently so that
Mr. Rampton has the opportunity to put matters in
re-examination, if he wishes. If, Mr. Stein, when you have
been referred to a part of the transcript, you have in mind
another part, then I am not going to stop you referring to
that. But you can have every confidence in Mr. Rampton
drawing my attention to any parts which he wants me to see
       in due course.

THE WITNESS: Very well, my Lord.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, Ms. Steel, you put the parts you wish
       to?

MS. STEEL: Is there a spare copy of the transcript? If this
could be handed up to the witness, please? (Handed).

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Give both the page and the line references.

MS. STEEL: I have it open on the page I am referring to. It is
       page 42.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: The day?

MS. STEEL: Day 140, yesterday. The question was at line 56.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Read it out.

MS. STEEL: "Who actually prepared the summary?"
Answer: "McDonald's prepared the summary from extracts from
       their documents."
       A. Yes.

  Q. That is the case, is it not, that this summary was prepared
by McDonald's from extracts from TPF&C's documents?
       A. It is a summary that was extracted from TPF&C's
documents and produced to the court. That is what I am
trying to say. I am responding to a question from
my Lord. Then the discussion keeps going; and if you will
turn to the next page -- and when I see there is talk here
about an attack on behalf of what McDonald's produced as a
summary from Tower's report, I am assuming everybody is
