12 Mr. Stein so that he can go home by the end of this week.

30 "Beijing, China, 1993. In or around 1993, workers at the
31 Beijing store expressed grievances over low pay, reduced
32 hours, lack of 'perks' and unsuitable clothing. They
33 produced leaflets and a representative, Mr. Tung, appeared
34 on TV appealing for support." What do you know about a
35 situation in Beijing at that time?
36 A. I have some general knowledge about it. I was not
37 there. So, I do not have first hand knowledge but I have
38 general knowledge.

40 Q. What do you remember the grievances were?
41 A. First, I do not recall there being grievances.

44 A. You asked me a question. I answered the question.

48 A. OK. I remember that there was one individual who had
49 put some leaflets in some of the employees' lockers,
50 I believe, or near the lockers.

53 A. I just recall that it was -- what I recall is it was
54 more of a politically orientated kind of thing. There were
55 some statements about western companies and some specifics
56 on there, but I really do not recall the detail because
57 I never saw the leaflet. It was in Chinese -- Mandarin,
58 I guess -- so I really do not know what it said.
