running; it can also mean doing what you are supposed to be
doing. So, in normal McDonald's parlance, if you will, my
Lord, I use the term "running" as managing a shift or doing
what I am supposed to be doing, not necessarily literally
running. I do not think the film showed literally running.

MS. STEEL: We can judge for ourselves, Mr. Stein.
       A. I think that is correct.

  Q. I just wanted to ask a question about a document. I will
not refer to it yet. Did the Company decrease the number
of stores it had between 1989 and 1990?
       A. Oh, boy! I cannot recall.

  Q. Has the Company been continuously -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Are you speaking USA or generally?

  MS. STEEL: In the USA.
       A. No, the number of stores every year has gone up, so I
do not know what you are referring to.

  Q. OK. If you could turn to document D2, I think it is behind
your first statement which is in the yellow bundle.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yellow X.

MS. STEEL: Before you open up, the volume of sales, has that
       continuously increased?
       A. Yes.

  Q. OK, if you turn to D2 then.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What do you mean by -- which document are you
       referring to?

MS. STEEL: I do not know. I have just got "D2" on it. It
       says "Employment Data".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you see a divider B?
       A. I see "B".

  Q. Towards the back of divider 4, there is a blue divider, the
second sheet, not the sheet immediately in front of that,
but the sheet in front of that has a "D2" written in the
       top right-hand corner?
       A. OK.

MS. STEEL: If you look in the first column, column A, at the
total number, that is the total number of employees at the
bottom in No. 10, is it not?
       A. Yes.

  Q. The one underneath says ---
       A. I know what you are referring to.

  Q. -- "Employment in previous EO1 Report" and that number is
       higher, why would that be?
       A. That is because these are for Company stores and we
fluctuate the number of Company stores we have. There have
