DAY 213
PAUL LEMAIRE, Cross-examined:

Q. But you had to do this paperwork, did you not?
A. I did not have to do it that day. I could have left it
for the next day or left it for a couple of days, but
I wanted to get all my stuff out the way so that I could
start afresh.

Q. If you had left it for a couple of days, you would have had
to stay on two or three times as long on that day, because
you would have built up two or three days' work?
A. Some days are quieter than others, so I might have been
able to get more done on a certain day, and on the next day
I could have got it all out the way the next day if
I had wanted to.

Q. This extra work which you could not complete in your
scheduled time, meaning that you had to stay on longer,
that continued -- was that because of understaffing?
A. It was not understaffing.

Q. Were there enough Floor Managers to do the job?
A. There was enough, but we were all given certain goals
to do in that certain week, and it was our time to do it;
you could do it at home, do it in the store.

Q. You were given extra work to do, but that was not the
result of understaffing?
A. No, it was not.

Q. So, effectively, you were being put under pressure because,
although being an hourly paid worker, you now had
additional responsibilities as Floor Manager?
A. It was not pressure. It was my own time I could do
this. So, there was no one saying, "Paul, you have got to
do this." It was up to me when I wanted to get it done.

Q. But you had to do that work at some stage?
A. I had to do it at some stage, yes, but there was no
pressure. It was what I was told I would have to do, be
more responsible as a Manager.

Q. As a Floor Manager, do you have to be aware of what Company
policies are on the hours that people work?
A. A certain responsibility there is; and I only know like
a couple of items, not most of the stuff.

Q. (Pause) We are trying to find a document. Do you know
what the Company policy is on the maximum number of hours
that employees should work?
A. Full-time?

Q. Yes.
A. 39 hours a week, 38, 39 hours a week.

Q. These long hours that you worked, was that the same whether
it was John Nevison or Dave Roberts, nothing really
changed, or was it different?
A. Dave Roberts -- when Dave Roberts came to the store, it
came down a bit, just to like 40 hours, 45 hours maximum a
week; but before that I was doing 50, as I said, 45 to 50.
