DAY 217
MRS. HOVI, Examined:
what was stated by Jarrets during the last time I gave
evidence, that laboratory testing, outside laboratory
testing, was actually carried out at Jarrets even during
the time I was there.

I just want to reiterate that now no results of such tests
were shown to me, even though I did bring up initiating
testing, since I thought it important. But, no, the
results of these tests were not given to me and nobody
mentioned to me during my stay at Jarrets that such tests
were carried out. That is the only comment I have on that.
I could not possibly have known about these results,
because I was not told about them.

Then paragraph number 4, still concerning laboratory
testing -----

MS. STEEL: Can you pause?
A. Mr. Bone stated ------

MR. MORRIS: Can I just say, if you are not commenting on
something, does that mean you are agreeing with it or you
are just passing over it?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Mr. Rampton can pick that up if he wants. It
may well be that he will categorically ask Miss Hovi: "Do
you accept this? Do you accept that?" and it may well be
that she will. I do not know.

MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So, if she skips a paragraph where you
particularly want to ask her something, by all means do;
but, otherwise, I suggest you let her go through the
matters she has noted.

(To the witness) Do speak slowly. I know if it is in your
nature to speak fast, it is very difficult; but just as a
matter of discipline while you are in the witness box try
and speak slowly, please.
A. All right.

MR. MORRIS: If the judge is writing something down, wait until
he has finished.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I may ask you to wait every now and again.
If you go slowly, it is much easier for everyone to make a
note when they want to. Yes, you were going to
paragraph 4 ---
A. Paragraph 4.

Q. -- on page 3?
A. Still concerning laboratory testing, Mr. Bone states
that E recording does not represent an unacceptable
reading, which is, we come back to the point of doing these
tests and -----

MR. MORRIS: That is near the bottom of the -----
A. Near the bottom of paragraph number 4. Basically,
I can only say that E represents poor hygiene -- poor
