Day 257 - 06 Jun 96 - Page 03

MS. STEEL: Jane Laporte, and then the only other provisional
one at the moment -- sorry, there is Miss Tiller on the
Friday, and then on 1st is Adrian Brett. That is the
situation at the moment. But, obviously, we are still
chasing up the others and trying to slot them in.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I would like you to, if you can, put
someone in on the Monday. I would like you to certainly to
try and have someone for the Thursday, and I will check
against my list of people you are proposing to call.

  MS. STEEL: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I want to do is avoid running any further
into July than we have to. I need a lot of persuading here
to break off before the end of term if we have not finished
all the oral evidence, but I do not think there should be
cause for concern about that because with a bit of
organisation we should have finished the evidence
       comfortably before Thursday 18th.

MS. STEEL: I think that we should be able to actually slot the
other publication witnesses -- mind you, there is Mr. Smith
from Veggies, but I was thinking about the other Greenpeace
witnesses should be able to be fitted in that week without
       a problem.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Very well. Bear in mind as well that there
is no magic in you giving evidence, if you choose to do so,
or Mr. Morris, if he chooses to do so, very last of all.
That is the way it has been planned. But if you run into
difficulty, for instance, getting the last or the last two,
or however many it is, of your publication witnesses, then
I may very well give you the opportunity, call upon you, to
give evidence if you choose to do so, and Mr. Morris he if
he chooses to do so, in order to help the completion of the
       evidence.

  MS. STEEL: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Now, are you proposing to serve supplemental
statements in relation to the question of publication and
consent, and if so when is that going to be done?

MS. STEEL: I do want to. I mean, I do not know what I can
say, I am really trying to get it done but we are trying to
do the appeal, and finish off all the odds and ends, which
means thinking about all the different issues, and it is
extremely difficult to get it done. But, I mean, I am
       trying.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Have you thought about the course I was
suggesting quite regardless of service of statements, which
ought to be done some time, if you are bringing in new
matters, I do not know to what extent you are, which is at
least to give a list of topics which are expected to be
covered. Do you remember, I mentioned on--

MS. STEEL: I did say the ones that I can remember the other
day, and as far as I know they are the main points if, if,
