: Well Billy Clinton, did the very silly thing of lying under oath. Being a lawyer and all he should have known better. Contempt of court is a serious offence, no matter who you are (Unfortunately contempt of the public is not an offense at all...)

: McSpotlight: SDF wasn't referring to that; if you look, the original reason given for impeachment was the unauthorized bombing of other countries without the permission of the legislative bodies of the US.

Exactly right,

When all is said and done on the sex issue the man is guilty of
miserable judgment and an amazingly self-centered life. The sex issue,
however, should give everyone pause to contemplate just how his poor
judgment might manifest itself in other areas. Could a man who fails to
esteem the office of the presidency of the United States (so miserably
as to defile it by considering his base, sexual urges ahead of that
office) be capable of using lives and property to his own personal
ends? You bet he could!

People have accused the Republicans of sexual McCarthyism and the
like. The disdain for Clinton's sexual episodes motivates some of them
to be sure. But I think most of them fear the ramifications of the
general attitude that allows him to take great risks for his own
gratification. This sex scandal was far deeper a thing than Monica as
the bombing of Sudan could be showing us.
