: : Terry Freitas, 24, champion of the U'wa people in Colombia's jungle (in their peaceful struggle against Occidental Oil and Shell's exploitation of their land) was shot dead last week in Colombia by armed supporters of the oil companies.

: Sorry to sound like a party pooper, but I have it (from NPR and Pacifica, no less) that FARC has fully admitted responsibility for the killings. Do you know something we don't?

: Remember, the media will studiously ignore the victims (either direct or indirect) of the oil companies, multinationals, etc.

All right, I'll assume for the moment you're right. I trust NPR.

What of it? 54% of the Colombian deaths in recent years due to the war have been attributed to the right wing death squads, which apparently have covert govrment backing. Add that to the number killed by the governmnet, and you can see that the majority of blood in Colombia's civil war is due to the combined forces of the Right, this one case notwithstanding.

Victory to the Colombian people!
