Your post is very much appreciated Shaun, I'm pro-ecumminicism myself and believe that the differences between the Catholic church and Protestantism are not much more than the differences between the say the Presbytarians and the anglicans but even discussion has been made different but a history of jihads and bloodshed.

Socialisation is incredibly different too, here Catholics and protestants are totally divided in sport, employment, patriotism etc. and you get people who have never considered the theological differences at all saying "I'd never drink with a Catholic", "I'd never drink with a Protestant". So in the light it's now cast I appreciate your enquiry.
