Consider the wild cats (cheetahs, lions, leopards, jaguars, etc), they all eat meat and hunt for it. If it weren't for the supermarkets and butchers who sell meat to us, I'd be a vegetarian, I wouldn't kill an animal myself, but I'll let someone else do it for me. I'm such a hypocrite!

Also humans do not require meat to live, in fact we can aquire more protien in legumes than meat. Also other meat eaters do not eat in excess, as many human meat eaters do. Wild cats go for days with no food at all, then kill what they need to survive. They do not fill their freezer with zebra and gazelle.
