Life without love is an abomination. Give me death.

Shaun: Maybe so, but what if, even though the mother may have not wanted or been able to care for the baby, he or she grew up to have a wonderful life?

DADDIO: Well that's a wonderful little fantasy, but is that REALITY? What kind of life do unwanted children generally have? What kind of life can we, as rational human beings, EXPECT them to have? A "wonderful" one?

Shaun: If a mother doesn't want thier child there is always adoption. That way, at least the mother can be assured that her baby will grow up in a loving household and have a chance at a normal life.

DADDIO: Huh? The assurance you speak of is nonexistent. There's no garaunteed placement program that I'm aware of. And no one can know for a certainty how loving or unloving any given household will be for ANY child. I haven't looked at the stats on this lately but I think you'll find that MOST orphans spend SOME substantial part of their lives in orphanages or on the street. That's the closest thing to an "assurance" you can offer an abandoned newborn.

Shaun: The baby never asked to be created, the parents did that all on thier own, .......

DADDIO: Shaun, you have this ingenious way of emphasizing my main points in your attempt to contend them. If this is all the parents' fault, why is the baby being asked to pay the price with the distinct probability of a suckass life?

Shaun: .....and since the parents made this baby that never asked to be born, you owe it to them to give them a chance at a happy life,....

DADDIO: How about just REASONABLE ODDS for a happy life. If we can't promise them THAT, then the only thing we owe them is a one way ticket back to God.
