I dont know if it does, look at atheism or agnosticism you've got intense battles between different schools of thought, then the various political atheists fight EG Marxists and Anarchists etc.

Religion if taken literally isnt about division but that's a good criticism of "religion" to date. Secularise authority and society, then secularise religion but dont act like atheism instantly equals tolerance or brotherly love.

:The worst part of this is that it is accomplished behind a facade of brotherly love nad humanitarianism. The hipocrisy of it all!

Well to say religion has always had nothing to do with this but has used it as a facade is just a bit cynical.
