: Irish...

Hmmm...current New Left Review has a terry Eagleton article on non-nationalist Irish Nationalism..strange how it takes a war to produce a decent issue of NLR.

: This debate is academic NATO is demonstarating nothing but cowardice and treachery in trying to work with the pan-slavic alliance of Moscow and Belgrade. We should have fuel bombed the hell out of belgrade and sent troops in to secure the zone for the next millenium (very liberal view that).

Indeed, liberalism is popular- but why is NATO not wanting to spark a region-wide war cowardice- and again, I re-iterate, what you think is teh right course of action is irrelevent in our analysis of what NATO is doing- my relationship to NATO is exactly the same as my relationship to the Serb government, to the Australian government, to the Irish government, i.e. it has nothing to do with me. I analyse NATO the way I would any government, and don't fall for the collective responsibility line.

Again, I re-iterate, NATO's objectives are not about stopping genocide, one example of this is the ongoing genocide in Iraq, the intervention of NATO will do no good for teh working class in the region, and so I oppose NATO's actions along with Serbia's actions.

: Facism and ethnic cleansing is happening in Kosovo, as it happened in Bosnia, and peoples full of sympathy for the Serbs because it's NATO taking the action, I can see the logic here, until some whiter than white saviour comes we arent going to support war against facism.

No, we won't support war between capitalists- NATO has no intention of deposing Milosovich, merely making him back down and stop destabilising the region, thats all. Look to NATO's agenda, not what you would like to see happening.

: Incidentally you blasted me for politicians logic Party member?!

*sigh* polliticians logic, is an example of 'bad logic' it doesn't work, I didn't blast you, I merely noted how you were accepting a bad argument. Look again.

1:War in Kosovo is terrible.
2;We must do something.
3:Bombing Serbia is something.
4:therefore we must bomb serbia.

or:

1:War is Kosovo is terrible
2:We must do something.
3:Masturbating furisously is something.
4:Therefore we must masturbate furiously.

The logic for both is Iron-Clad, if you accept the first you accept the second. If you don't accept the second, then proove why not.
