IGNORE THE OTHER POST-A SECTION OF MY OPPONENTS WRITING I MEANT TO DELETE WAS ACCIDENTLY LEFT IN

: How many of you people believe all of the following three things?

: 1. It is wrong to eat meat.
: 2. Humans are not superior to animals.
: 3. Homosexuality is not wrong.

I agree with all three!

1:I feel it is wrong to raise animals in captivity for food because it causes the unwilling to suffer. There is nothing wrong with eating carrion except it may well make you sick(although I know several people who routinely eat deer who have been killed by careless drivers. I do NOT advocate making laws against meat eating because I am an anarchist. There are probably a small number of individuals who cannot give up meat, any more than a cat can. I would advise them to buy no meat raised in factory farms and, if they insist on eating meat, to hunt their own. I am not saying hunting doen't cause suffering(it causes a lot) but that factory farming causes far more. PETA may kill me for saying this, but I would rather be hunted for food than raised in prison for it if something is going to try to eat me. I would rather worry about grizzlies than prison guards.

2: Humans ore no different than other animals. We have fancy brains for the same reason grizzlies have long toenails-as a tool for survival that gave us some advantage over our competition. Since we are simply anpother animal, this is one reson I don't advocate using laws to end meat-eating. If your cat has the right to hunt,so do you if you would die from not eating meat(as your cat woiuld unless taurine is supplemented). Your cat neighbors, of course, do not raise mice and birds in captivity. My ancestors from the Native American wing of my family knew by heart that humans are simply one of many animals, and NOT king of the world. We have no more or less rights than any others.

3: Homosexuality is not wrong because it does not directly involve unwilling individuals while providing pleasure to those engaged in it(as all sex does) If unwilling individuals are being argued over, than you are arguing over RAPE, not homosexuality. I am bisexual myself and will fight to the death with all available weapons and unlimited force against anyone who tries to put me in an AIDS quarantine camp, a prison for violators of Christian sex laws,or anything equivalent. The behavior of other animals has nothing to do with my arguments over this. In my book, ANY activiity between consenting individuals is acceptable. ANY that involves unvilling partners is not. Indeed, I do not actually APPROVE of hunting(mentioned above)I only disapprove of it less than I disapprove of factory farming. I will not use arms myself to stop someone from hunting or eating meat(unless I am the one being hunted),but I do not cry when an animal being hunted manages to turn the tables and kill the hunter, as sometimes happens. There was one case where a polar bear two hunters wanted to kill for a rug managed to kill and eat the hunters instead.Fair is fair.

: Invariably, the argument against eating meat always boils down to the
: notion that humans have the choice to eat meat or not so it is incumbant upon mankind to choose not to eat meat to spare that animal. But what code is man obligated to follow? Is man not an animal too?

Indeed it does. those who have a choice(most humans, perhaps not all) should not eat meat. I will not try to prohibit it for the same reason I don't try to stop cats from hunting. I will, however, try to talk people out of eating meat, hunted or otherwise. Similarily, if taurine is added to vegetable based food for cats, they too can have an alternative-and if the food is tasty enough, SOME cats(not all)might prefer it to the birds in the back yard or the mice in the field.

McSpotlight: sorry about the double post, Luke; however, I'd cut out Stuart's bit already (for reasons of clarity).
