: :: You said earlier: "Of course man is superior to animals - by any reasonable definition of the word." Since, based on dictionary definitions it is clear that some qualification is necessary, please qualify your statement, and BACK IT UP.

: I don't need or want to qualify my statement, Kevin. It's an opinion I have and that is all.

WHAT??!!! Bah! In the post Kevin was responding to, and that I was(very similarly) You specifically cited the dictionary, QUITE vehemently, as your personal source of backing information, not the bible I might add, and you pointedly encouraged us to do the same! Quit your hedging and back stepping and first decide what your stance is before you try to debate it. Isn't it pertinent to a debate to be able to QUALIFY STATEMENTS?

:It's also a majority opinion so it's still legal to eat animals. My opinion of the superiority of man comes partially from my belief in the Bible as God's word and partially from common sense. You dismiss the Bible and devalue any reference made to it. You also wish to micro-inspect the meaning of words to make your point.

I believe it was you that first started on the definition tac, eh? Don't use the dictionary for your debate if it's that painful to be 'micro-inspected'.

: So what is to be gained by arguing further? I'll continue to eat meat and do so without the slightest remorse.

Who said you couldn't? Eat your heart out, literally! Triple by-pass coming right up.

: Consensus opinion is law with respect to this issue. If you don't like that opinion that's unfortunate but no amount of twisted logic, redefinition or semantics by you is going to change that opinion.

: Stuart Gort

Oh, ok Stuart, but any amount of twisted logic, redefinition(sorry, but we QUOTED your webster!), or semantics by you should? I highly doubt there's a concencus opinion, more likely a highly uneducated opinion, which is usually the case in issues of morallity. Many minds are changed through education. Meat consumption is very hands off now, what with the happy ronald mcdonald face, and the nice impersonal grocery packaging. I feel quite sure meat consuption would decrease greatly without the middle man. If you disagree please do a test on yourself for us. See how much meat you provide for your family by hunting and/or farming for let's say 3 months, and compare with previous use. or perhaps i'm assuming once again, that you have not already tried this? If so please tell us your results.
