In today's society, it is impossible to be considered innocent even if you are. And then, even if you are free of any crime you may as well have been guilty in the first place.

Take a false arrest for example, as this is common over here. The media think you're guilty, your parents would probably think you had let them down, your friends (if they're not the idiot type who think getting locked up is "cool") will think you are some low life... this happened to my best friend over some assult charge. He didn't do it, but he may as well have because people like to believe in the worse.

It comes from the desire to put the finger on other people. The media, and we all know how ruthless they can be, have a tendency to promote all the negetives, and in the case of a positive ending they generally won't show it if it was related to a crime. So, if people are only seeing others getting arrested, and not being found innocent, what are they supposed to think of those who are.

As much as we like to think that our world is full of daisys and puppy dogs, we know that it is full of weeds and demons, those of which make innocence is impossible.
