: I thought Sean Gonsalves' article was really amusing. The same folks who are trying to introduce Creationism in the schools are believers in the social Darwinism of competitive capitalism, that capitalist society will evolve the entrepreneur Ubermensch while consigning the poor to the ash-heap of history...: "God created us, say the fundamentalists. Created us for what? To compete in a Darwinian society, where "survival of the fittest" is held up as divine law?"
Christianity has always been full of hypocrites eg spanish inquisition, St Cyril, catholic church, etc etc...
So it comes as no real surprise to me that they continue on in such a fashion.
But i think it's real sad to see young kids indoctrinated into something. science encourages critical thinking, whereas creationsim encourages dogma. I don't think there's any question as to which of those is the superior analytical tool and thus which one is appropriate to be taught in schools.
