: :: Anyway, Matthew does NOT trace the genealogy of Jesus. He traces the genealogy of Joseph. If Jesus was literally the son of God, then he has absolutely no blood connection with Joseph. So it seems that that one goes out the door. If you want to trace the genealogy of the Virgin Mary then that might be meaningful, but if Jesus was the son fo God then it don't matter what his stepfather Joseph's ancestry was. right?

: Interesting that you argue that the Bible is true in order to contradict me, Nik. That sure is twisted motivation but if I see you in heaven, we'll get along much better.

He's got a perfectly good point, Stuart; you'd be advised to concede it with some grace, rather than just carping on about his motivations; after all, reductio ad absurdem is a perfectly valid analytical tool.

It's simple logic; IF Jesus=Son of God THEN Jesus !=Son of Joseph; thus Joseph's lineage is irrelevant.

Neither is he arguing that the Bible is true; merely pointing out that either you or the Bible is wrong; leaving you a simple choice; admit your error or try to change one of the conventionally accepted tenets of Christian faith.

What's it to be? Are you going to subscribe to the Gnostic heresy and do we have to call in the Inquistion to make you recant; or will you just accept Nikhil's logic as irrefutable?
