: I just wanted to see what people in here thought about animal cruelty or even believe there is such a thing. I personally am tired of organizations like PETA who have fanatical members that are against even eating any meat product or hunting. What makes me sick is that most people are more willing to give a stray kitten a place to stay than a homeless human being somewhere on a street corner.

DDN: I'm not sure I follow this. What's wrong with giving a stray kitten a place to stay? Because some people are homeless? What's the connection? I don't get it. Why can't we just be kind and respectfull toward EVERYTHING - stop being cruel toward animals AND house the homeless? Why is it necessary that we must always cause something to exist in a perpetual state of suffering somewhere?

You know what makes me sick? Most people are more willing to take in a homeless person than they are to do something about the root causes of homelessness thereby eliminating homelessness altogether. Most people are incapable or unwilling to think about the larger systems in which problems like homelessness are embedded. That's why people like me can't spend anytime addressing government corruption, enviromental destruction, capitalist greed, or factory farming without some one dimensional public school robot accusing us of being heartless toward homeless people.

Alas, this is the mindset that has a deathgrip on our government and communities and hence homelessness, animal cruelty, pollution and a plethora of other problems will continue to plague us until we eventually destroy ourselves for want of a mind independent of public school brainwashing, government propaganda, and prime time television.
