: Try bringing along foods with low moisture content: dried fruits, nuts, granola, crusty bread. Of course, with all that dry stuff, you'll need water, which will probably get warm, but that beats warm soda...

Good advice, all of it, but you may be able to find an evaporating cooler at your local camping or army surplus store. These are relatively fine weave canvas bags that cool water by evaporation. They leak quite a bit, that's basically how they work, so you'll want to keep them on the outside of the car (where evaporation will be greatest anyway). These days, most people who go camping or nature exploring are trying to go "high tech." There are several really expensive pieces of technology (high insulation coolers, portable battery-operated refrigerators, etc) that the techies buy. This leaves all that old-style "dinosaur tech" in the second-hand shops, where it can be picked up cheaply. Enjoy your trip!

: Or, get spiritual-minded and fast. :)

Uh, yeah, or that...;-)
