Daddio: What did Jesse Ventura say that was so damned offensive. Everytime a turn on the radio there's some DJ or commentator huffing and puffing about how Jesse Ventura made some outrageous and offensive comments and that his political career is over because of them, but then they NEVER say what the "comments" WERE or even what they alluded to

Morris: In a television interview with David Letterman almost a year ago, Ventura was asked which of the "Twin Cities" he liked better, be it Minneapolis or St. Paul. He responded that the streets of St. Paul must have been laid out by drunken Irishmen. In these politically correct times, it seems the Irish don't appreciate the word "drunk" being used in the same sentence as "Irish," but that blew over. Most of the time, though, the commentators are referring to an article in Playboy, which I haven't read, also published nearly a year ago. Here, Ventura is alleged to have dispensed witticisms about gun control being defined as being able to hit your target twice at 100 yards, and seemingly harmless stuff like that. Unlike Ventura, a career politicion would choose his words carefully, so they are not thrown back at him later by the press. On the other hand, perhaps Ventura simply likes the free publicity.
