: Floyd: I'm not sure what you mean about finding the Tao in Pi. The nearest sense I can make of that is that, like the Tao, as described by Lao Tsu, there seems to be no meaning inherent in the succession of numbers, and it's only our interpretation of its relationship to other things (in this case, circles) that contains meaning. Is that the approach you were trying to take?

No I am saying that there is in fact a message encoded in this universe, not in pi but in the human being. It can be called reason or rational thought, that capasity within us that alows us to understand what is right and wrong and then do right when we want to do wrong. It can be called love, put someone else's intrests before your own, choiseing to surpress your own urges for the good of others. But I prefer to call it the Tao because it represents the universal idea of right and wrong. Since the Tao can not be an urge in and of its self no more than a note can tell you how to play the rest of the notes in a symphony, it is more like what sheet music is to a symphony. It is diffrent from an urge. So who put it there. In the only place we expect to find a message, within our selves, we find it. The Tao. It is explained better in the original post.
I enjoyed the book better than the movie though. Books are always better.
