Are different breeds of dogs considered delicacies?

Sorry, I know this gets away from where you were going with this post. But there are many of us that are ignorant about the actual practice of dog eating, and the knee-jerk "barbarism" response is directly derived from this lack of understanding.

So if you wouldn't mind answering this question I've been wondering about for forever...

...Is dog meat simply dog meat, or do different breeds fetch different prices at the market, taste better, etc?

I've always wondered about that, but would not like the displeasure of learning for myself. Cultural brainwashing, you know?
