: : You can interpret the ancient language of your man-written bible any way you want, but my God...
: Ok , I'll ask you. What do you believe in, what god?
: Your god was not man-written or thought up by man?

I believe in Yves, who makes the best veggie hamburgers, hot dogs, and cold cuts in the world. Seriously, though, my conception of "God" can only be man-made because, as I've written before, no one can know the nature of God, and so we must each invent what we consider Godly values. And as I've written before, I believe that mercy and compassion are foremost among any Godly values.

: To eat meat is ones own choice and that one mans alone and no one should tell him otherwise. Alittle food for thought is Shakesphere's opion of meat in Twelfth Night " I am a great eater of beef , and I believe that does harm to my wit."sir Andrew 1.3.84-85

I can tell people whatever I like. As for forcing people to act a certain way, that's debatable. After all, we tell people they can't murder other people. We tell people they can't starve their pet dogs or cats. Why not tell people they can't eat animal flesh? I a democracy, you can force people to act in all sorts of ways. One day in the future, we may pass a law saying you can't kill an animal for any reason except self-defense or mercy killing. You might say this is tyranny, to which I would respond that a law is just if it prevents a person from harming others; conversely, no law is just which tells a person how to live his or her own life (provided they do so in a way which does not harm others). The key issue here is, when will animals fully occupy that category of "other." As I've said, we have laws saying you can't beat a dog to death, so already animals have partial legal status as an "other." Eventually, it is my hope, we'll realize that there is no crucial difference between beating a dog for pleasure, and slitting a cow's throat for the pleasure of eating its flesh. With Yves' help, this day may yet come.
