Is a purely arbitrary one? Based upon the recommendations of others? Or some other as yet unmentioned criterion?
Upon faith--my own, not that of others. I've had years of study -- both scientific and theological, and have never found a contradiction within the Bible itself nor between the Bible and true science.
Also, based upon consistency. The Bible has worked for many before me and continues to work.
