Thanks for the effort. In spite of my previous objections to your source, I'm going to accept the LA Times article as accurate since I couldn't read any substantial mischieveness in between the lines. You win. This looks pretty sick to me. Certainly seems out of line with classic native north american values. Apparently the Navajos object staunchly to this practice for all the right reasons.

Its good that we keep ourselves in check and not deify another race of people just because we are so embittered and distrustful of our own (albeit justifiable). But we don't need to deify a tribe like the Hopis in order for the white european settlers (or even modern non-idigenous americans) to look terrible by comparison. So, does this account of the eaglet sacrifice serve any function other than protecting us from worshipping the Hopis as perfect angels?
