Thank god for Pandora then, Lark, because she gave us hope. Regarding medical testing of animals: reduce, refine, replace. I'm confident that scientific progress will eliminate animal testing faster than the animal rights movement (unless I acquire superhuman powers, in which case, watch out). Ultimately, people are always the last guinea pigs, and scientists know that; if they share my goals, but for different reasons, then more power to them (uh oh, there I go again, making common cause with the Devil).
