On the other hand, there's no time left to stop the genocide of First Nations people, or the conquest of North American by capitalist Europeans, and so what we have is a bunch of smug white liberals sitting in judgment over what's left of what their ancestors tried so hard to destroy.

Some suggested ways of saving those eagles:

1) Pickle the Hopi's livers. As a White oil construction worker once told me while I was hitchhiking through northeast Arizona, "they really like that firewater." A drunk Indian can't kill eagles, so why not invite 'em all into the local tavern for a few drinks? I saw the construction worker's wisdom upon initial inspection of the saloons of Flagstaff; if you don't believe me you can see for yourself. BTW, First Nations people are genetically susceptible to alcoholism...

2) Integrate them into capitalism! Build mines and quarries and oil pipelines on their land; bribe their leaders to permit it all to happen. An Indian who works for the Man is too busy to kill eagles. Or maybe they could build casinos! The First Nations folk in California love that stuff; the Morongos have a big one...

3) Destroy their culture. After all, we have experts at this, they're called the FBI, they've got Leonard Peltier on what amounts to nothing. Meanwhile, Ron Unz is busy trying to get an "English Only" school initiative (modeled on Prop. 227 in California) passed in Arizona. This in addition to the racist educational practices that are doubtless already happening in BIA schools...

See, it's one thing to adopt someone else's animals as if they were our own personal house pets, and it's another thing to get one's own culture to stop abusing those who dare not to be European, after five centuries of such nastiness...
