Two things need to be addressed about this coming new year's eve, whatever your religion.

1) Y2k bug... Will the lights go out? Probably not, but you've got a lot of survivalists who might lose their grip. If the lights do go out then there are probably a lot people who will hold an extended street party(rioting and looting) just because...

2) Millenium fever... with all the hype second coming, y2k, and otherwise, all the hoodlums and crazies are likely to come crwling out the woodwork for one last bash.

Chances are that nothing extreme will happen, but the point is that it could. I know in California the office of emergency services is much more concered about rioting that power outages. So happy holidays, but exercise some caution in your festivities. May you see the wisdom of socialism in the coming year.
