In all cases, it's immoral.

: The lesson learned from thalidomide is not that animal tsts are useless but that new drugs must be tested on animals not only for efficacy and safety but also on pregnant animals to detect the possibility of fetal deformation. This is now standard practice in drug research.

Sometimes animal testing does result in benefits for humans and animals, but let's be clear about what we mean by that innocuous term, "testing." Try: poisoning; burning; electrocuting; cutting; hitting; breaking; freezing; starving; making nauseous, dizzy, fevered, weak, cancerous, pained; irradiating; psychologically, making terrified, isolated, addicted, aggressive, submissive; despondent, confused, miserable.

In other words, we take healthy animals and hurt them on purpose, often terribly. We do not have the RIGHT to do this, only the POWER. It is slavery, pure and simple, and it is immoral.
