Fundamental, I'd say.

: Some major differences between those aliens and us:

: 1. What aliens? Ain't no evidence any exist anyway.

True enough. I was posing a hypothetical. I personally believe that with the countless suns and planets out there, there's got to be intelligent life on other planets, but for now, it's only speculation and sexy Klingon women (and possibly Steve Forbes, though he might only be Disney animatronics, and hence purely terrestrial in origin).

: 2. In God's creation, he made man higher than, not equal to, the animals. If man is nothing but an animal, than you would be correct. However, man is higher than the animals. Animals don't have an eternal soul, humans do. God created animals in part to supply the needs of men, not us to supply their needs.

At this point, Gotch, we're left disagreeing with each other, because I cannot argue with someone's position of faith -- you believe what you believe, and I believe what I believe. I do hope (and trust), however, that you share my desire to see animal suffering caused by people disappear whenever possible, and with that in mind, consider what is called the R's in animal rights land: Reduce, refine, replace. This means: reduce the number of animals experimented upon, and the suffering entailed in those experiments, by refining the experiments in such a way that less animals are needed, and the testing less physically/mentally intrusive, followed by advances in technology which can ultimately replace animals altogether. Science has already given us non-animal replacements for crude and painful tests, such as tissue cultures replacing the Draize test (literally pouring chemicals in animals eyes). Since my goal is to stop animal experimentation, I'll support any route which gets us there, be it moral persuasion or scientific advancement; I hope you can at least find common ground with me on that goal.
