: Do you hunt with handguns? That's what I want to see controlled. Not many robbers surprise their victims by pulling rifles out of their pockets. Not many postal workers sneak into work with a rifle tucked into their brown bag lunch. Handguns are easily concealable, that's what makes them so dangerous.
A hand gun maybe easily concealable but so is a sawed-off shotgun. They can be cut down to fit underneath a coat.

Right now criminals (or their fronts) can buy guns in stores and shows and from private citizens; the more avenues of guns you cut off, the harder it is for the bad guys to get guns. I would remind you that it's not only criminals I'm concerned about. It's the pissed off guy in the car -- the fine upstanding citizen -- who shoots you because you're going to slow. It's the nervous woman who blasts you because you approach her asking for directions to the library. It's the kid who takes his daddy's gun and peers down the barrel to see what's inside, or takes it to school to show off. It's the father who shoots his son dead because the kid came home late and sneaked in rather than waking up his parents.
If a kid looks down the barrel of his dads gun and blows his head off its the dads fault. Not the guns. the dad could have easily gotten a trigger lock or even just put the gun in a safe place or taught his kid about the gun and how it works to relieve the childs curiosity. The dad will always be able to get a gun weather it is leagel or not.If the laws dont permit him to do it by the books he can always just buy an illegal gun of the street.
