: First of all Floyd, while I don't fully agree with Lark on the factual question of whetehr most gays act that way,

Well maybe not most gays but the most vocal ones anyway.

:I do understand it when people object to public sexual displays. I kind of agree with Lark on the point that promiscuious and sex-obsessed lifestyles are not something desirable. I only disagree with him on the factual point of whetehr this is typical of homosexuals.

Well I thin it's been typical of homosexuals since their reason for being homosexuals is a sexual inclination and this becomes, with the most vocal ones at least and I suspect the rest, what matters to them when they vote, pray, go to the park everything.

Now if hetero's should, rightly I think, rein in this sort of behaviour because it's fundamentally selfish, egotistic and materialistic I think homosexuals should do likewise.

It's not just a matter of anti-'shaggging in the streets', I think if we are against the exploitation and savaging of the earth and the power relationships in industry or between people with different resources we should extent such sentiments to the physical sexual sphere of existence also. This is more moralism than socialism, I dont think decree or legislation would help but a cultural change effected by persuasion wouldn't go a miss.

: Secondly, you're wrong about the Panthers. First of all, nothing these guys did was that effective,m except maybe for breaking Timothy Leary out of priosn and setting up some free clinics, etc. They were repressed by the Feds with a vengeance. Second of all the Panthers broke from other black militant organizations over precisely the issue of whether whites were evil. The Panthers did not believe that all whites were evil; they didn't believe in racial essentialism in ANY form. They believed in divisions based on CLASS and IDEOLOGY, not on RACE. This was the reason they purged their Information Minister, Eldridge Cleaver, who believed that the primary distinction was based on race. As a simplification, Cleaver belived that the Panthers should unite with other black groups, whether they be right or left wing. The Panthers ridiculed this idea, and rightfully so, saying that any alliance with Papa Doc Duvalier or black conservatoives in America would be seuicidal. They instead advocated unity with all other progressives, be they white or black. This was why the Panthers built a coalition with predominnatly white socialists like the Peace and Freedom party, running joint presidential candidates, and also supported non-black progressive revolutionaries everywhere from Algeria to Vietnam. The Panthers were Marxist socialists, not racial essentialists. There is all the difference in the world. One leads to humanitarian brotehrhood, the other to Nazism. As for Malcolm X, he was indubitably a brilliant man, and an amazing orator, but a false prophet nonetheless.

This is like an allegory guys, what the gay movement in my opinion are guilty of is sex essentialism and political and social lifestylism, they have done nothing but benefit themselves and alienate everyone, supporters and opponents, in the process.
