Floyd: It's this mindset that convinces the fundies that people are basically horrid, I'll bet, since the only reason they see for being nice to each other is to keep Sky Daddy from giving them a thrashing when he gets home.

DDN: "Sky Daddy". That's a good one [Horseshack laughter].

Yeah, kinda makes you sleep with one eye open when you live in a nation whose primary religion says that it perfectly ok to murder, rape, and steal from whomever you want as long as you ask for forgiveness right before they throw the switch on the electric chair.

Its certainly one of the main reasons I have despised christianity also. Old Testament laws such as the ten commandments seem to be for people who, for whatever reason, lack any moral fiber whatsoever. Its wrong to murder and steal? Really? No kidding? Duhhh. CHILDREN and SOCIOPATHS are the only people I think of that need to be told this even once much less over and over again. Sounds like the early Jews had some pretty serious character flaws.

The advent of Jesus Christ (the "savior") was God's way of saying that you can't polish a turd i.e. trying to convince a sociopath that its wrong to hurt others is like trying to nail jello to a wall. Of course, why the All-Knowing Grand Master of Reality didn't know this when he gave us the Old Testament laws is certainly worth a great deal of conjecture, but the Christians would rather have their teeth pulled out with rusty pliers than entertain such a question. God should have talked to ME first before giving Moses the ten commandments - I could have saved Him thousands of years worth of dissappointment.
