: :: Handguns are attractive to gun manufacturers as they typically have a shelf-life of 18 months. Once they are used in a crime they are usually destroyed, discarded or confiscated.

: That is patently ridiculous. There are over 2.5 million handguns sold per year. With 37,000 deaths attributed to all types of firarms per year in America, how do you get a profit motive out of that? It can't be 1% of their market? Are you saying that, if it was in their power to end handgun violence, the collective body of manufacturers wouldn't glady forego 1% of their market to get gun-controllers off their backs. Are you nuts?

: :: The girl is dead because the boy had psychological problems. The boy had psychological problems because of his household. His household had problems because of drugs. Because of drugs his house had a loaded gun. And his house had a gun and drugs because of the CIA and the profit motive.

: Profit motive? Sure they make guns for profit. But the incredibly small percentage of their market that misuses their products isn't driving their interests. Use the same logic with baseball bat, knife, and automobile manufacters to see how ridiculous you are.

Not true, god-boy. The handgun manufacurers have known since 1975 that their market (white male hunters) has decreased and that hunting will not exist as a sport in 60 years. So they decided to market handguns to women and minorities, as former Smith & Wesson executive Robert Hass testified here
