Are you all insane?

While I can see the obvious arguments against the products McDonald's food provides, I cannot and never will follow the logic of violent attacks against the suppliers of McDonald's provisions. The attack on the farmers and others who support the industry of which McDonalds is only a part (albeit the leader) is plain wrong. It is wrong in principal and wrong in its execution.

The principal wrong is the use of violence. Violent measures have rarely achieved anything lasting, whereas non-violent means often have lasting effects. The work of Gandhi, Martin Luther King and others have had effects which have shaped our generations and will continue to last into the future. However the actions of people like Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin have only had short term effects whichwere contrary to the intent of the purveyor of the violence. The logic is clear.

The problem with the execution is obvious. Attacking the farmer, or anyone else by themselves is the problem. McDonald's is not just one person or even a group of people. It is in and of itself an entity. A being if you will with a collective intelligence and ability to function without one or more of its parts. Therefore, by attacking one farmer, another will step up to take the open place. It is simple economics. McDonald's pays the bills. The way to beat them is obvious and this web site has begun the attack. Unfortunately, it is a tact that many American businesses have tried and failed. The key is provide a substitute or competitive product. A food which is healthy, yet costs similar to the Big Mac/Filet of Fish.

Take away the demand and there will be no need for the supply. If McDonald's falls away and a substitute is created, the farmer will either have to adapt to meet the meerging market or fall away with McDonalds.

Of course this is an expensive and mentally intensive proposition. It would probably be too much to expect that someone who holds the theory of "vote with a bullet" could understand it and the undertake it.

By the way, I am a longtime fan of McDonalds, and will probably never give it up. In fact I have a book of their gift certificates in front of me right now. I just thought you Rebels without causes could use a lesson in simple logic, history, and business theory.
