better ways to "even the playing field"

This is probably not the "room" for this discussion but away I go. Affirmative action is a form of racism (giving a job to someone on the basis of race). I understand the rationale behind the movement but do two wrongs make a right? Should we murder to stop murders? I do not believe so; consequently, I dont believe we should use racist measures to stop racism. Afirmative action is definitely an interesting topic and deserves another look. I think that there are better ways to "even the playing field" for everyone.
