McDonalds also do some good

I keep seeing all of these anti-McDs sentiments posted, and I would just like to inject a small comment on some of the positives of that company. Each year in victoria, McDs raises over 20 million dollars for the Royal Childrens Hospital. This is money desperately needed by the thousands of children treated there each week. After the government has cut back hospital funding so far, can our medical institutions survive without the backing of these multi-national corporations?

McSpotlight: McDonald's annual advertising budget is well over 2 billion dollars annually. What fraction of 2 billion is 20 million?; how much do you think that 20 million dollars represents to McDonald's; especially given that they can write it off as tax-deductible?

Would it not be more responsible to stop aiming adverts at children too young to judge and instead encourage them to eat a healthy diet while growing up?

After all, a healthier diet would mean less people in hospital due to diet-related disease. That's less heart attacks, less cancers, less obesity, less food poisoning, less allergies...think of the money that would save the Australian taxpayer...
