Take the whole website down. Stop writing idle letters to McDonalds, who are doing what they're apparently legally allowed to do, and begin your task of lobbying against the bill allowing commercial enterprises (restaurants with drive throughs) to be built in residential zones.

It sounds to me as if it's your zoning laws that are innapropriate, not McDonalds' behavior. They purchased the properties, and under the current legislation they're allowed to do with those homes what they please. Perhaps give your concerns to homeowners who are considering selling the homes, knowing full well that the money they receive, even if exorbitant, cannot justify the damage the sale will do to the neighborhood. (And your property values, perhaps?)

Your proposed solution, this attack on McDonalds, is not going to eliminate the problem at it's source. My advice to you and yours is to pick your battles more carefully, and be sure who your opponent is before you embarass yourselves with improper actions.

Either way. If it isn't your property, and you're not willing to find a way to prove your love and need for these homes (for example, BUY them...) then it really isn't your place to try and dictate what McDonalds (or any other owner) can do with it providing their behavior violates no existing laws.
