McD's advertising and children.

Posted by: Kalvin P. Chapman ( UK ) on September 27, 1999 at 01:29:55:

I have this posted in many area's, but get very little response.

McDonalds' advertisements were described by the trial judge in McLibel as exploiting children. McDonalds were awarded, after the Appeal, £40,000 damages. No Government agency has done anything to McDonalds for what they have done wrong, yet the courts have punished Dave and Helen for what they perceive H&D have done wrong. That's fair, I THINK NOT!!!

Anyway, there is one thing we can all do, but you have to be resident in the UK I'm afraid. If you email me, kpchapman@hotmail.com, I'll email a letter that needs printing with your name and address, and then send it to the ITC.

I am currently preparing for a Judicial Review of the ITC's decision that McD's adverts are ok. (Despite a very well thought out legal argument showing that McD's breach the guidelines.) It would be VERY helpful if I can get at least 1,000 letters sent to the ITC. (One of their excuses is that no in the UK agree's with me. And looking at the response by campaigners, I think there are more people interested in McD's animal practices than what they are doing to our children. The only people that seem to have tried doing anything are Helen and DAve themselves in Court. They are also backing this campaign, but no one else seems to be doing so. I even asked McSpotlight to put the letter direct onto the web site, but that didn't happen. Pity.)

If you do care about the future generation of this country growing up without being bombarded daily with McMessages, and care that they don't grow up to clogged arteries, heart disease, cancer, and other associated illnesses, please email me. Get your friends to email me, get anyone you can to get this letter out.

Thanks

Kalvin. :+)
