McDonald's Boycott!

Posted by: Bart S. ( Canada ) on March 20, 1997 at 20:58:23:

In support of the McLibel case going on I would like to recommend to everyone a ONE DAY BOYCOTT of McDonald's WORLD WIDE! Many of you reading this may already be non-McDonald's customers BUT if we can get agreement to the concept, agreement to a date then all we have to do is SPREAD THE WORD!

Is there a KEY MILESTONE date upcoming on the McLibel trial that could be used? I figure something at least a few months from now is apppropriate to allow organization time.

There is an international day of action each year on the 16th of October.
A boycott may not be very effective or noticiable since those likely to
be interested in doing it are probably already boycotting McDonald's and
their ilk already. It might be worth you doing a little 'market research'
to see if people would back the idea. It might work - after all - people
do pledge to give up meat on 'The American Meat Out' day and the UKs national
vegetarian week.
