Mcdonald's in Residential zones.

Posted by: Amy Chua ( None, Australia ) on March 29, 1997 at 21:00:14:

Can you imagine having a 24hrs drive-in Mcdonald's next door to you , in a residential area? Well, just for your info, they have put in a planning permit to build a 120 persons drive-in restaurant on the corner of Cummins and South Road in East Brighton in Melbourne Victoria. The area that they are building on is 2 existing residential C homes and a service station. The Bayside Council has rejected outright the 2 permits and now they are taking it up to the Appeals Tribunal. The hearing will be in around May 1997. They have engaged Rigby Cook Solicitors . If we don't fight this type of overdevelopment in our residential areas, there's no stopping them.

Please keep us informed about this (and all) contested planning applications by McDonald's. We would love to hav press cutting relating to this case. If you haven't taken a look already, you might find something useful in the residents section of the campaigns pages.
