What's all this about Collectivism?

Whenever a pro-capitalist poster here or some corporate screed types out statements concerning collectivism they really don't seem to understand the meaning very much. Instead they use it as a veiled word for describing any alternative to capitalism without really understanding that they themselves are very collectivist in their behaviors. How can anybody who claims to be for Christianity and capitalism really convince most people that collectivism is wrong in all ways? Do these same people not take into account that before the Russian Revolution the word "communism" would most commonly bring to the minds of most people images of early Christianity in the first few decades after Jesus's death? Does (and should) cognitive dissonance and/or attribution theory take dominant positions as a way of explaining this uniquely American political-cultural phenomenon? This a-historical view of the world is slowly stifling democracy not just in America but the entire planet.
